MapleBrook Invitational Soccer Tournament
May 29 – May 31, 2009
Dear Coach or Team Manager,
On behalf of the Maplebrook Soccer Association Board of Directors, Tournament Committee and volunteers, we would like to invite you to join us for the 22nd Annual MapleBrook Invitational Soccer Tournament, being held the weekend of May 29 through May 31 2009. We will be playing at locations throughout Maple Grove.
This tournament invitation is open to all MYSA traveling teams, U9 through U18, including MYSA approved tournament-only teams. Each team will be scheduled for a minimum of three games. The U11 through U17 teams may advance to playoffs; U9/U10 will be non-competitive. MYSA teams must immediately reschedule any league games that could potentially conflict with any tournament game.
FEES: Tournament fees are $275 for U9/U10, $325 for U11/U12, $375 for U13 – U18. Registration deadline is May 1, 2009. Teams will be notified of acceptance via email, and posted on the MapleBrook website no later than May 22, 2009. Game schedules will be posted on our website no later than May 22, 2009. Teams withdrawing after acceptance is given shall forfeit their fees.
ROSTER SIZE & PLAYERS: Maximum sizes for team rosters are: 12 players for U9/U10, 14 players for U11/U12, 18 players for U13 through U15, and 22 players for U16 & U17 (only 18 can dress per game). All players must be registered with the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association and must have a valid, laminated, pictured player pass and a medical release upon check-in. NO PLAYER PASS – NO PLAY – NO EXCEPTIONS. Up to three guest players are allowed. No over-rostering is allowed.
REGISTRATION: The registration deadline is May 1, 2009. All teams must register on-line at our website using a credit card by May 1, 2009. Teams will be accepted on a first come- first serve basis after all required paperwork has been submitted.
BRACKETS: It is our desire to fill all brackets as shown above. However, MapleBrook reserves the right to combine age groups or playing levels as appropriate.
All brackets will contain a minimum of four and a maximum of twelve teams.
Registrations will be accepted in the order received, provided room exists in the bracket. Depending on the size of each, it is possible that Classic 2 brackets may be combined with Classic 3, but we will not combine Premier/Classic 1 with Classic 2/3 except where a bracket is designated as “Open” above.
In a four team bracket, each team will play the other three teams and the champion will be determined by points. In a five team bracket each team will play the other 4 teams and the champion will be determined by points. In a six team bracket the teams will be divided into 2 groups of 3 teams. Each team will play 2 games in pool play and then the top two teams in each group will play in a semi-final game with the semi-final winners playing for the championship.
The bottom 2 teams in each group will play a consolation game. In an eight team bracket the teams will be divided into 2 groups of 4 and each team will play 3 games in pool play. The top team in each group will advance to the championship game.
Teams may apply to play in older age groups or higher playing levels than their MYSA registration by indicating this desire on the application form. No team may play in a younger age group than their MYSA registration, even if all players would have been age-eligible to play at a younger age group.
The U9 and U10 teams may not play at U11 or above. The U9 and U10 brackets will be non-competitive, as in MYSA league play. For U9 and U10 brackets, scores will not be recorded or posted, standings will not be kept, and no playoff or championship games will be played. All U9 and U10 players will receive participation awards.
CHECK-IN: Each team will be required to check-in at least 60 minutes before their first game. There will be early check-in available on Wednesday 5/27 and Thursday, May 28 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Maple Grove Community Center. Check-in on Friday will be available from 3:00 – 8:15 p.m. at the Tournament Headquarters, which will be at Gleason. Check-in on Saturday will start at 7:00 a.m. at the Tournament Headquarters.
FIELD LOCATIONS: Games will be played on fields in Maple Grove. We make every effort to schedule similar age brackets at the same field locations through the weekend. Field codes that coincide with schedule information are listed in parentheses.

SCORING & AWARDS: The MapleBrook website will be updated with results throughout the weekend. The U11 and U12 first and second place teams will receive individual trophies or medals and U13 and older first place teams will receive championship t-shirts and U13 and older second place teams will receive individual trophies or medals. Participation awards will be given to all U9/U10 players.
MISCELLANEOUS: We will again this year provide concession stands at each site. Your team will find various refreshments, snacks and customize tournament T-shirts will be available for purchase. Team may have their photos taken by Great Photos. Online scheduling for team photos will be online shortly.
